DESIGN PROCESS
The design process for a kitchen or bathroom design is similar in stages to the process clients will go through with an architect or architectural draftsperson for a set of house plans. It consists of the following:

Brief
A client brief is obtained by discussing with the client their requirements for their new kitchen or bathroom and looking over the architectural plans (new home) or existing space (renovation). At this stage Nichola likes to obtain as much information as possible from a client and discuss with them the various options available.

Concept
After an initial consultation with the client a design concept is produced showing the proposed layout option/s. The design concept plan will be drawn up considering the flow and spatial requirements of the kitchen or bathroom incorporating all of the necessary fittings, storage and cabinetry requirements. Once the layout has been approved, a scheme for the kitchen/bathroom consisting of all finishes, colours and fittings will be presented.

Design Development
The design development stage involves refining the concept plan into a working set of drawings consisting of plan, elevations, cross-sections, details and specification schedule to hand over to a joiner. The joinery package is then sent out to joiners to obtain quotes.

Project Management

Nichola provides a project management service which enables her to closely follow each project to ensure the best result for her clients. Once a joiner is selected Nichola will meet with them to discuss the working drawings and joinery requirements and clarify any questions. Nichola likes to work closely with the selected joiner to ensure there are no misunderstandings and to maintain quality control for each project. Nichola also inspects the joinery at the workshop prior to installation and visits the site when the kitchen is being installed.
